Gluten free to some restaurants means the item is gluten free. Unfortunately it gets cooked on appliances or with utensils that have touched gluten. This means the gluten protein could be getting into your child’s food. Abbey Road uses separate everything so there is no cross contamination between gluten and non gluten free dishes.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Gluten, here is some information about what it is and why it is dangerous to some people.

What is Gluten?

Gluten are proteins found in various grains like wheat, barley, and rye.

What is its purpose?

It adds texture or elasticity and a chewy consistency to food. Thats the good part. It is a flavor enhancer of sorts

Why is it dangerous to some people?

Now the bad part. The proteins cannot be digested by some people properly. The persons body cannot digest the proteins properly due to Celiac disease. In fact the body of a Celiac disease person will attack the walls of the small intestine. As you probably guessed, anything attacking you in your body can’t be good.

How many people are affected with Celiac Disease or Gluten intolerance

About 1-2% of the WORLDS population

Is Celiac disease the only group that suffers from problems with gluten

No. there are people who have a sensitivity to gluten but do not have Celiac disease. They suffer from a number of digestive ailments triggered by gluten. These include irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea.
