WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR 41st YEAR IN BUSINESS!
“It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play…” and it was almost 40 years ago when the bands began to play, right here at Abbey Road. Owner Bill Dillon has been bringing the best in great food and live entertainment to the residents and visitors of Tidewater since 1982. Our fresh seafood, beef, and pasta dishes are summed up by The Virginian Pilot’s reviews: “Abbey Road Leads Diners to a Satisfying Evening (1983)” and “Abbey Road is a great pub in the midst of a tourist location. For locals it is well worth the trip any time of the year (2008).” Hampton Road’s Port Folio Magazine says: “Abbey Road is the Best Acoustic Venue in Tidewater, offering the best and the most variety…”

After three years in the food service industry Bill decided in the fall of 1982 to open his own restaurant in the resort area of Virginia Beach. Heavily influenced by the Beatles when growing up, thanks to his two older sisters who listened to their records all the time, he decided to name it ‘Abbey Road’ after the last album the Beatles recorded (although ‘Let It Be’ was the last released) before they split up in 1970 (thanks, Yoko).

Many national, regional, and local musicians have performed at Abbey Road since 1982, including: Richie Havens – the man who opened Woodstock, Ronee Blakely – toured with Bob Dylan, Livingston Taylor – James’ brother, The Ventures -theme from Hawaii Five-O, Rick Roberts of Firefall, – wrote & sang many of their #1 hits, Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead, Robbin Thompson & The Robbin Thompson Band, Gove Scrivener, Lewis McGehee – toured with Bruce Hornsby, Lisa Noel, Mike Proffit & The Mike Proffitt Band, David Petretto, Keller Williams, Suzy & The Naturals, Catapult, T.K. Llegs, Acoustic Ceiling, Chuck ‘Coyote’ Larson & Robbie House & Norman Harrell of Snuff, and many, many more…

We feature local and regional artists on our stage every week. Check What’s Happening for details.

About Our Menu

When we discovered over 20 years ago that partially hydrogenated oils were bad for you, (almost like plastic) we made every effort to eliminate them from our menu and, at a considerable cost! We use only 100% real butter and no partially hydrogenated oils for frying and baking. We use real dairy whipped cream for our desserts and buy French fries that are free of partially hydrogenated oils as well. We also use Turbinado Cane sugar for our homemade desserts and sweetened tea. We want you to know that we care and that we will continue to offer the best menu we can at the most reasonable prices.

In addition, our menu also includes Vegetarian Entrees and Breakfast ‘til 4:00 p.m. every day! And Beatles Breakfast every Saturday & Sunday at 9:00 a.m.!

We participate in the SENSIBLE SEAFOOD program, partnering with the Virginia Aquarium and the Monterey Aquarium in California, serving only sustainable seafood. We also participate in the Lynnhaven River Now project by saving our oyster and clam shells to build future oyster reefs. We are certified an Ocean Friendly Restaurant by the Surfrider Foundation.

We are Proud to offer the best Gluten Free menu in Va. Beach!

Two thirds of our menu is or can be prepared Gluten Free. We achieve this by having a dedicated, gluten free fryer and grill and selecting Gluten free products. We use Gluten Free soy sauce for our marinades and stir-frys and our own blend of Gluten free flours and seasonings for our seafood breading. We also offer Gluten Free Bread and Pasta. Our homemade brownies are baked from scratch with cocoa and gluten free flour. We hope you enjoy our Gluten Free Menu Selections. We regret, however, that we cannot guarantee the possibility of cross-contamination.
